Welcome to the House of Mon
“In today’s world, being yourself, living the life you want, listening to your dreams, seeking beauty and creating not consuming – these are acts of rebellion.”
Disconnected. Disoriented. Frustrated. Despondent. Feeling like there is a void that cannot be filled. Feeling like there must be more to life, to this world.
These are the feelings that I’ve experienced as the world seems to move more and more quickly, changing in ways that anger and scare me. And I know that I am not alone. So many conversations I’ve had in recent years, with friends, family and strangers, have revolved around these concerns.
We feel disconnected from each other, from nature, from our bodies, from our inner worlds, from our creative life force.
We feel disoriented by the speed of change and frustrated that despite doing everything we’re “supposed to” do, life isn’t what we thought it would be.
We feel despondent, as we keep trying to fill the void inside with stuff and the other signs of success that society has conditioned us to strive for.
But we’re left feeling unfulfilled and hoping there is more to life, and curious if there is more to this world than what we’ve experienced so far.
I created the House of Mon to start addressing the issues behind these widespread feelings. It is a place where people can slow down, explore, open up and connect. A place to play, to activate curiosity and ignite imagination. To feel wonder and awe at the beauty and power of nature and the human spirit. To examine self and life. To begin to find their innate talents and true calling. To acknowledge, accept and act on their true desires.
We can feel it is impossible to change the world. But we can change ourselves and we can help others change. And that change can be the start of something much bigger.
